CHICAGO — Craft Pizza, a joint offering pizzas, New York-style bagels and coffee, plans to open in the former The Haute & The Dog building by the end of April, a spokesman for the new venture said.

Scott Toth, who heads Lakeview's Pizzeria Serio, plans to open the place inside the old The Haute & The Dog storefront at 1252 N. Damen Ave.

The new restaurant's small-batch pizzas will be made with 12-hour slow-rise dough, hand-crushed Italian San Marzano tomatoes, and both Italian and local aged meats and cheeses, according to Craft Pizza spokesman Derek Serafin.

Craft Pizza will use the same dough to make its New York-style bagels, which will be boiled and baked, Serafin said. The spot will also offer coffee.

An opening date has not yet been announced, though Serafin said Craft Pizza is expected to be serving up food sometime in April.
