CHICAGO — A 16-year-old girl was hurt in a Tuesday afternoon shooting in Pilsen, police said.

She was shot about 4 p.m. in the 1700 block of West 18th Street, according to police.

The girl told officers that she was walking along the block when she noticed two groups of males were arguing, according to Officer Janel Sedevic, a police spokeswoman.

Then, she heard gunshots and felt pain.

The girl was shot in her chest and taken to Stroger Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.

Police said the teen is believed to be an unintended target of the shooting, and Area Central detectives are investigating. A detailed description of the shooter was not immediately available.
