UKRAINIAN VILLAGE — A new Mariano's Fresh Market store in Ukrainian Village will open March 25, the company said Thursday.

The store at 2021 W. Chicago Ave. was formerly a Dominick's, one of a number of stores Safeway closed last October after pulling out of the Chicago market.

Mariano's has been hiring employees this week, hoping to find 350 full- and part-time workers for the Ukrainian Village location.

The Wisconsin-based Mariano's announced in December that it would take over three city Dominick's locations. Roundy's Inc., the parent company of Mariano's, is also taking over the former Dominick's at 3145 S. Ashland Ave. in McKinley Park and at 5201 N. Sheridan Rd. in Edgewater.

A Mariano's in Bucktown, at 2112 N. Ashland Ave., is under construction. Hiring for that store will be in April, the company said.
