LITTLE VILLAGE — One man was killed and two others were injured in two separate shootings Wednesday on the Southwest Side.

Geo Martinez, 22, was killed in the city's Little Village neighborhood about 7:25 p.m., officials said.

Police responded to a call of a person shot in the 3200 block of West 23rd Street and found Martinez lying in the street, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a Chicago Police spokesman.

Martinez was shot in the head and chest and died on the scene a short time later, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

No one was in custody in connection with the shooting as of early Thursday morning, but police believe the shooting to be gang-related.

About two hours later, two teenagers were injured in a drive-by shooting in the 2300 block of West Cullerton Street.

The teens, ages 16 and 19, were walking down the street when someone inside a passing vehicle opened fire.

The 16-year-old was hit in the chest and abdomen and was rushed to Stroger Hospital where he was in critical condition, Alfaro said.

The 19-year-old was also taken to Stroger Hospital after he was shot in his right elbow. His condition had stabilized by Thursday morning, police said.

Police believe the second shooting was also gang-related.
