WEST LOOP — The smell of bacon is already in the air, as Baconfest Chicago 2014 released a limited number of VIP tickets Monday morning.

A select number of the nonrefundable $200 VIP tickets went on sale at 10 a.m. Monday on Baconfest Chicago's website. Tickets were still available Tuesday morning.

This year the fest offers three tasting sessions: 6-7 p.m. April 25, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. April 26, and 6-7 p.m. April 26.

No more than 175 VIP tickets are sold per session, and guests who buy VIP Tickets will receive early entry to the bacon-laden fest, giving them first access to all bacon items and the chance to meet and speak with chefs before the flood of general admission ticket holders arrives.

Last year, more than 3,000 people attended Baconfest, with more than 5,700 pounds of bacon served.

In addition, the festival donated $50,000 to its longtime partner, the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
