CHICAGO — An 18-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder in the May 2012 shooting that killed two friends on the Lower West Side.

Mario Gutierrez, 18, of the 1900 block of West 21st Place, was arrested Friday and is charged with killing the pair.

Cops believe Gutierrez is responsible for the May 21, 2012, shooting that claimed the lives of Alejandro Munoz, 26, and Esteban Alvarez, 27.

The victims were sitting on a porch in the 2200 block of South Leavitt Street when two men approached about 12:40 a.m., police said. One of the men — allegedly Gutierrez — pulled a gun and opened fire, killing both victims.

Gutierrez is slated to appear in bond court Sunday.
