The organization that oversees top-tier collegiate athletics announced Chicago is a finalist to host championship Division I events through 2018 in the following events: men's ice hockey, women's volleyball, women's lacrosse, and men's and women's gymnastics.

Men's Division I, II and III lacrosse tournaments could all be held in Chicago as well.

The "Frozen Four" ice hockey tournament could culminate at the United Center in either 2015, 2017 or 2018. The women's lacrosse event could take place at Toyota Park in a to-be-determined year.
