WEST LOOP — Macaroon maker Dan Cohen will sign copies of his new cookbook, "The Macaroon Bible," and serve samples of his signature treats from 6-8 p.m. Friday at J.P. Graziano, 901 W. Randolph St.
Cohen started his company, Danny Macaroons, out of his New York City kitchen in 2010 and scored some big customers early on, including Bergdorf Goodman. He moved to Chicago earlier this year to expand the business, though production for now remains in New York.
J.P. Graziano, the West Loop grocery and sub shop, was the first place in Chicago that started selling Cohen's chewy coconut cookies this spring. More than a dozen stores and eateries around town now sell the macaroons, including Belly Shack, La Colombe and the Haute and the Dog.
Local breweries Piece and Begyle will provide drinks for Friday's event. The event is free but an RSVP is required; e-mail mbkovler@elevateyourpresence.com.
