RAVENSWOOD — Ravenswood Elementary School's Principal Selection Committee has narrowed its field of candidates to three finalists, who will meet with members of the community at a public forum Thursday night.

Those in the running for the position vacated in July by former Principal Heather Connolly are Nate Manaen, Carolyn Rownd and Raynell Walls.

Manaen is currently an instructional support leader within CPS' Pilsen-Little Village network, Rownd is an assistant principal at Jones College Prep High School and Walls is an assistant principal at Volta Elementary School in Albany Park.

The forum will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Ravenswood Gym, 4332 N. Paulina St. Parents, teachers and community members are all invited to attend and quiz the candidates on their qualifications and vision for the school. Attendees' feedback will be collected by the Principal Selection Committee.

In addition to conducting interviews with the candidates, the committee has also paid site visits to observe the finalists in their current environment.

The committee will meet immediately after the forum to discuss the candidates and decide on a final recommendation to the Local School Council. The council is responsible for the ultimate hiring decision.
