CHICAGO — Chicago kids will have more opportunities to have a little fun before school starts, as more than 50 Play Street events will take place through Labor Day.

During the events, streets are closed off and filled with bounce houses, sports and fitness classes, among other things.

The additional Play Streets will benefit more than 7,000 children, according to a news release.

“By providing our young people with opportunities to begin or continue a healthy routine, they will have the tools they need to grow into healthy young adults,” said Mayor Rahm Emanuel in a news release. “Engaging in fun neighborhood activities keeps kids connected to their communities, while teaching them valuable skills that they will carry through the rest of their lives.”
