ROSCOE VILLAGE — Police are investigating whether the shooting of a man in Roscoe Village early Thursday is gang related, police say.

The 31-year-old man was shot in the arm about 2 a.m. after a man carrying a gun approached him in the 2200 block of West Barry Avenue, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a police spokesman.

Town Hall Police District Cmdr. Elias Voulgaris said the victim claimed he was a former Insane Deuces gang member. He was accompanied by two women at the time of the shooting, Voulgaris said.

He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where his condition stabilized, Alfaro said.

No suspects are in custody.
