Urban Farmers at West Loop's Block X Turn Berries Into Pies, Tarts and Beer

Block X Berrypicking

For the past 10 years, Block X Condo Association resident Moshe Tamssot and his friends — many of them members of the Monks of Invention — have harvested the dozens of Juneberry trees in the back of the condo complex that sits along Racine Avenue and Washington Boulevard in the West Loop. After the harvest, the berries are made into pies, tarts and "Block X Berry Beer" and some are donated to area restaurants and bars.
