WEST LOOP — With a new menu and more booze, Porkchop whiskey bar and barbecue is ringing in two years of smoky, salty goodness with style.

The menu, which debuted two weeks ago, features a fried green tomato BLT, the Fat Elvis, a bacon-studded Belgian waffle and The Mouthful, a slow-smoked pulled pork sandwich on a pretzel roll.

“People are loving the new items. We see the difference,” owner Jovanis Bourgoub said.

Restaurateur Dion Antic opened Porkchop, 941 W. Randolph St., in a partnership with Bourgoub in 2011. Antic is no longer with the restaurant.

Porkchop now has six times the beer and whiskey selection as when it first started. And, while Bourgoub isn’t a whiskey man himself, the liquor is still served religiously neat, with buckets of ice and water should you need them.

Expansion is the plan, Bourgoub said, and with a Porkchop food truck and a new location opening at Harper Court in Hyde Park, it would seem he’s well on his way.

Hit up the Porkchop pig roast party on Saturday starting at noon. Specials include $2 sliders, tacos, PBR cans, 312 drafts, and Jim Beam shots. With live music by the 290 East Band at 8 p.m.
