NEAR WEST SIDE — Chicago Police will pull over cars Friday for an annual Roadside Safety Check designed to catch drunk drivers.
Cars will be stopped from 8 p.m. until 4 a.m. near 2451 S. Ashland Ave., police said in a statement. Traffic on that street will be slowed and drivers showing any signs of alcohol impairment will be stopped.
The April 19 Safety Check in the Austin District yielded eight Driving Under the Influence (DUI) citations and 12 Drivers License violations, police said. In addition, 14 vehicles were towed.
