PILSEN — Five wolves have replaced Pl-zen’s octopus mural.
And an image of Little Red Riding Hood is soon to follow on the outside of the Pilsen brunch hotspot.
“That’s why we have the wolf pack. They’re going to be chasing her,” said owner Cesar Augusto Villegas.
The new mural, which has the wolves and a smattering of random green bugs, was painted by Alejandro Arango, the same artist who created the octopus.
Little Red Riding Hood will join the wolves as soon as the Chicago rain dies down, Villegas said, hopefully by the end of the week.
Villegas also plans to open a small patio in front of the bar in early May.
The gastropub, which has been open for brunch since late December, is also doing a bottomless mimosa brunch. That includes any brunch entrée — and all the mimosas you can drink while eating that entrée — for $25.
Brunch runs every Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Dinner at Pl-zen averages around $17 for an entrée, and the bar features an extensive list of local beers and spirits, including whiskey by Few Spirits and beers by Domaine DuPage and Three Floyds.
On Wednesday, distillers from Few will be on hand from 8-10 p.m. to answer questions about the liquor and mix up several Pl-zen cocktails made with Few.
Those drinks include: The Gutless, made with Few White Whiskey, pear puree, basil, balsamic vinegar mist, and lemon; Francis’s Gold Rush, with Few Rye Whiskey, house made ginger syrup, and fresh lemon; and The Salt and Pepper, with Few American Gin, a touch of Oola Pepper Vodka, fresh grapefruit juice and Angostura bitters.
