CHICAGO — Nathaniel Pendleton Jr., the younger brother of slain teenager Hadiya Pendleton, played tennis with President Barack Obama at the White House Monday.
Nathaniel, 10, and his mother Cleopatra Cowley-Pendleton, were among the president's guests at the annual White House Easter Egg Roll.
Hadiya performed with her high school band at Obama's inauguration in January, just a week before she was fatally shot in a park about a mile away from Obama's Kenwood home. First lady Michelle Obama attended her funeral.
Other guests included families of victims of December's school shooting in Newtown, Conn.
