CHICAGO — A North Lawndale man was killed Sunday when his SUV struck the median on the Stevenson Expressway, state police said.
Alejandro Gonzalez Luna, 37, of the 2200 block of South Kirkland Avenue, was driving southbound on Interstate 55 about 12:50 a.m. when he struck crash cushions in the median area near the Kedzie Avenue off ramp, state police said.
Luna was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:40 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
State police said speed and failure to wear a seatbelt contributed to Luna's death.
