CHICAGO — Police have issued a community alert warning that a pair of businesses in South Lawndale were robbed at gunpoint by two men earlier this month.
The robbers entered the Southwest Side businesses wearing gloves along with either a mask or sunglasses, according to the alert. Police said the men were armed with a handgun in both robberies.
Police said one armed robbery occurred in the 3900 block of West 26th Street about 2:30 p.m. Feb. 12. The other business was robbed in the 3500 block of West Cermak Road on Saturday about 4:20 p.m., according to the alert.
The men pulled out a gun, announced a robbery and fled with property in each heist, according to the alert.
Police described one of the robbers as a black man, 30 to 35 years old, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 and weighing 170 to 200 pounds.
The other gunman was described as a black man, 30 to 35 years old, 5-foot-11, weighing 170 to 200 pounds with pockmarks on his face.
