CHICAGO — Authorities are investigating after the body of a man was found in the north branch of the Chicago River Saturday.

Fire Chief Joe Roccasalva said someone called after seeing something floating in the river. The body of an adult male was pulled out of the river near the 2700 block of West Irving Park Road, he said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said the unknown man was in his 30s or 40s.

Police are investigating.
