CHICAGO — Plans for the extension of Chicago's Riverwalk from State to Lake streets will be formally presented to the public Wednesday.
The project, overseen by the Chicago Department of Transportation, will include restaurant retail space, kayak rental and piers for fishing along the north branch of the Chicago River.
The community meeting will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Chicago Architecture Foundation, 224 S. Michigan Ave.
Each block along the six-block stretch will have a unique theme and purpose, according to the Department of Transportation.
The plan to improve Riverwalk was announced in October by Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
