PILSEN — The Redmoon Theater is coming to Pilsen — permanently.

The theater, currently located on the Near West Side, will move to 2120 S. Jefferson St. and host a major event there March 6, according to the theater's website.

Lauren Pacheco, a spokeswoman for Ald. Danny Solis (25th), said the alderman had been working with Redmoon for the past six months to find them a space in Pilsen.

“It’s a huge opportunity for the ward, especially with the revitalization of the river area,” she said.

Phil Mumford, who owns the location on Jefferson — currently a warehouse — said Solis’ office contacted him about the space early in the summer.

Mumford also owns Colonial Brick, a Pilsen company that sells antique bricks. As a Pilsen business owner and a University Village resident, Mumford said he has a vested interest in Redmoon’s arrival.

“We’re very excited. It’s going to be transformative for the neighborhood,” he said.

Founded in 1990, the theater specializes in outdoor spectacle and puppet theater.

Redmoon will host its Spectacle Lunatique fundraiser in the space on March 6.
