BACK OF THE YARDS — Tytus Harris was shot and beaten so badly that his mother wasn’t allowed to see his body at the morgue, family members said.

Tytus Harris died Feb. 19 after he was attacked in Back of the Yards, possibly because of a girl, his uncle Richard Young said.

Harris, 22, was a passenger in the back seat of a car, Young said.

Harris saw a man with whom he’d “gotten into it before” and tried to flee the car. But a group attacked Harris in the 5100 block of South Hermitage Avenue, Young said. He was pronounced dead Feb. 19 at Stroger Hospital due to a gunshot wound, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

No one has been charged, according to police records.

“I didn’t think they’d beat him and stomp him like that,” Young, 58, said.
