CHICAGO — Sherman Harris, 52, was gunned down in Austin in August.
Harris, a mechanic, was shot alongside another mechanic in a garage between Lawler
and Leclaire Avenues the night of Aug. 2, the Tribune reported.
The other man, also 52, was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital in fair-to-serious condition, the Tribune reported.
Harris was shot in the head and leg and was pronounced dead at Loyola Hospital later that night. He lived in Champaign, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
“He was murdered unjustly,” said Harris’ mother, Edna Harris-Howard.
She said she doesn’t know why anyone would kill her son.
No arrests were made in the case, according to public police data.
“He was a beautiful person and a beautiful man; he never bothered anyone and he
never got in trouble,” Harris-Howard said.
