Let There Be Light! Roscoe Village Gets Decked Out For Holiday Contest

ROSCOE VILLAGE — Clark Griswold would be proud.

"Christmas Vacation" may have set the gold standard for exterior illumination, but a number of Roscoe Village residents are giving Chevy Chase a run for his money.

More than 50 homeowners and another 20-plus businesess have entered the first-ever holiday decorating contest sponsored by Roscoe Village Neighbors. It's a Christmas cage match: Inflatable Santas take on twinkling snowmen, and only one will emerge victorious.

Participants are competing not just for pride and bragging rights but for a top prize of $150. Second-place winners receive $100, and third-place winners receive $50.

First place in both the residential and business categories will be determined by online voting. Before heading to the polls, take a walk in this weekend's winter wonderland and check out the candidates. Note: Only one vote per person per entry is allowed.

RVN will announce the winners Jan. 15.
