A three-year search for a grocery store for South Shore still remains unfulfilled.

Ald. Hairston and the broker for the shopping center both said reports of a store lease were wrong.

The grocer signed a 15-year lease as the owner of the plaza put it up for sale for $19 million.

A lease is now said to be imminent with a grocer for the store that's been empty more than three years.
