Mensa, who grew up in Hyde Park, will perform and stay to talk about community health concerns.

The tech incubator 1871 will develop the lessons at Dyett before expanding to more schools.

The school was one of 10 that saw the maximum slashed in budget cuts announced Monday by CPS.

The protesters joined CPS CEO Forrest Claypool on the first day of classes Tuesday.

Some 150 students will attend the school starting next week.

Beulah McLoyd has tried to talk to hunger strikers and other critics about the school's reopening.

Protesters who fought for Dyett's re-opening said they were not involved in hiring Beulah McLoyd.

School activists said they will continue to push CPS on Dyett, but will now resume eating.

But 13 others continued their protest, which started on Aug. 17.

Activists called on Rahm Emanuel to meet with the strikers, who have gone 29 days without solid food.

The group said the hunger strike would go on until CPS agreed to accept ongoing input from  groups.

The Dyett High School hunger strikers are in their 18th day and not calling things off.

Dyett High School has been a catalyst for conflict for years.

Half of the 12 Dyett High School hunger strikers came to City Hall on the 15th day of their protest.
