EDGEWATER — Families are invited to partake in this year's annual Spring Fling celebration and Easter egg hunt in the 48th Ward this weekend.

The day's events begin at 10 a.m. Saturday in Senn Park at the corner of Thorndale and Greenview avenues with the egg hunt starting at 10:30 a.m.

Just one rule applies to the egg-themed Easter tradition: bring your own basket.

The events are sponsored by the 48th Ward office, as well as community partners at the Chicago Friends School and Families Together Cooperative Nursery School, the Senn Park Advisory Council and neighboring Immanuel Lutheran Church, who will provide entertainment and activities for kids.

The family-friendly gathering is taking place at Senn Park while construction crews continue work that began earlier this month at neighboring Senn Playground.

Once re-opened this summer, the playground will showcase new jungle gym equipment and interactive features, landscaping improvements and more.
