Carlos Fitz, 17, Killed In Logan Square Shooting, Officials Say

CHICAGO — Shootings in Logan Square and Humboldt Park have killed one person and wounded five since Thursday, police said.

• At 2:23 a.m. Friday, two people were driving in the 3700 block of West Fullerton Avenue when a black, four-door call pulled alongside them and someone inside fired shots, police said.

One person was hit in his head and neck, police said. Carlos Fitz, 17, of the 5200 block of West George, was pronounced dead, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

The other man was hit in his hand and treated and released from Norwegian American Hospital, police said.

In non-fatal shootings:

• At 3:02 a.m. Friday, a 29-year-old man was shot in Logan Square, police said. The man was a passenger in a car in the 2000 block of North Milwaukee Avenue when he heard shots and felt pain.

The man was hit in his leg and hand and taken to Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center in good condition, police said.

The man was a documented gang member, a police source said.

• At 7:35 p.m. Thursday, a 24-year old man and 26-year-old man were shot in Humboldt Park, police said. The men were driving in a car in the 600 block of North Kedzie Avenue when a dark-colored car with four people in it drove by and someone inside fired shots.

The 24-year-old man was hit in his right shoulder and the 26-year-old man was hit in his back, police said. They were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition.

The men were documented gang members, a police source said.

• At 1:53 p.m., a man in his 20s was shot in Logan Square, police said. The man was in the 2300 block of West Logan Boulevard when he was shot in his foot.

The man was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital in good condition, police said.

No further information was immediately available.

No one was in custody in these shootings.
