LOGAN SQUARE — At popular nightlife spot East Room, last call just got extended.

The second-floor venue, 2354 N. Milwaukee Ave., won approval for a late night liquor license, which makes it the second 4 a.m. bar in the area behind The Owl, 2521 N. Milwaukee Ave.

As of Jan. 1, East Room is open 9 p.m. - 4 a.m. Sunday - Friday and until 5 a.m. on Saturdays, which is two and three hours later than before, the bar announced in a news release this week.

The owners (Parts & Labor, Boiler Room) have been trying to extend the bar's hours since 2015. Since then, some neighbors have voiced concerns about East Room becoming a 4 a.m. bar, saying it could make Milwaukee a late-night destination.

But the owners have said the late night liquor license won't change the bar's philosophy about staying active in the community.

"No matter what license East Room holds we plan on being an active and supportive neighborhood business," co-owner Zack Eastman told DNAinfo in 2015.

The stretch where East Room is located has already become a nightlife hot spot with Slippery Slope, which frequently has long lines out the door, and a number of other bars lining Milwaukee Avenue.

East Room opened in 2014. The bar regularly hosts DJ sets, live music and tattoo parties.
