RIVER NORTH — Flamingo Rum Club, the flamingo-clad cocktail bar touting mid-century Cuban elegance and "the largest rum selection in the country," is coming soon to River North.

The venture between Phil Stefani and Adolfo Garcia is opening Dec. 1 at 601 N. Wells St., according to a spokeswoman.

The rum club will have cabaret seats and is inspired by the glam of 1940s and 1950s Cuba, when the Caribbean island played host to the likes of Ava Gardner and Ernest Hemingway. The menu will include small plates and big entrées inspired by the Caribbean. There will also be a nightly cabaret show.

"Guests can expect nothing less than the largest rum selection in the country, bartenders in pink tuxedos, waitresses in floral dresses ... Cuban cuisine and the feeling of an intimate speakeasy cabaret," the restaurant says on its website

The rum club will be the second venture between Stefani and Garcia, two veteran restaurateurs who opened Broken English Taco Pub in May near Millennium Park.

Once open, the club will operate from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. Wednesday through Friday, and 4 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Saturday.

The spokeswoman said the club's menus will be available in a few weeks. Check out photos of the club below before it opens:
