Jogger Sexually Assaulted In Albany Park, Police Issue Community Alert

ALBANY PARK — A jogger was sexually assaulted Sunday morning near Sunnyside and Kedzie avenues, according to a community alert from police.

The woman was jogging eastbound on Sunnyside at approximately 7:15 a.m. when a man grabbed her as she approached Kedzie and sexually assaulted her, police said.

The victim wasn't able to provide much detail on the suspect, aside from describing him as having an athletic build and standing between 6-feet and 6-feet 2-inches tall.

Police offered the following safety tips:

• Always be aware of your surroundings.

• Walk in pairs.

• Make sure you can hear what is occurring around you — i.e., no headphones.

• Remember any unique descriptive characteristics of offenders such as scars, limp, acne, teeth, etc.
