Auburn Gresham Shootings Kill Reginald Turner, Wound 3 Others, Police Say

CHICAGO — Shootings in Auburn Gresham left one man dead and three people wounded between Friday and Saturday, police said.

• At 10 p.m. Friday, a 26-year-old man was in the street in the 7700 block of South Sangamon Street when someone in a van opened fire on him, Estrada said.

The man was hit in his head and was pronounced dead, Estrada said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the man as Reginald Turner, of the 7700 block of South Peoria Avenue.

Another man walked into the 6th District Police Station and said he had been wounded in the shooting. He was hit by flying debris, Estrada said.

• At 12:37 a.m. Saturday, a 25-year-old man was walking down the street in the 8100 block of South Green Street when he heard shots and felt pain, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The man was hit in his left foot. He was taken to St. Bernard Hospital, where his condition was not released but he was listed as “stable,” Estrada said.

The man was a documented gang member, police said.

• At 12:27 a.m., a 23-year-old man was standing outside in the 7600 block of South Harvard Avenue when three men walked up to him, took out guns and opened fire, Estrada said.

The man was hit in his chest, buttocks, right leg and right arm, Estrada said. He fell to the ground and the men walked over to him, took money from his pocket and then ran away.

The man was brought to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was not released but he was listed as “stable,” Estrada said.

No one was in custody in these shootings.
