Englewood Shootings Leave 2 Dead, 4 Wounded Since Monday, Police Say

ENGLEWOOD — Five separate shootings left two men dead and another four people in Englewood between Monday morning and Tuesday morning, police said.

• Just before noon Monday, an 18-year-old man was found shot to death in a car in the 6500 block of South Ross Avenue.

• Around 10:45 p.m., a 21-year-old man died after a drive-by shooting in the 5600 block of South May Street.

• Most recently, just after midnight Tuesday morning, a 38-year-old man was caught in the crossfire between two cars in the 5500 block of South Shields Avenue, according to Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was brought to Stroger Hospital with a gunshot wound in his back, Pacheco said. Police could not provide his condition but said he was "stable."

• Around 9:20 p.m. Monday night, a 26-year-old man was standing in the 7500 block of South Union Avenue when a group of men walked up and shot at him, Pacheco said.

The man was brought to University of Illinois Hospital, where he was "stable" with a gunshot wound in his leg, Pacheco said.

• About 5:30 p.m., a man and a woman were standing in front of a house in the 5700 block of South Bishop Street when a gray sedan pulled up, a group jumped out and shot at them, police said.

The man, 22, was brought to Stroger Hospital with a gunshot wound in his back, police said.

The woman, 31, was brought to St. Bernard Hospital with a gunshot wound in her left ankle, police said.

Both people were "stable," police said.

No one is in custody, police said.
