EDGEWATER — The place where patrons used to pump up at Know No Limits Gym is now a place to settle down after a transformation of the site into a 13-unit apartment building.
Once a neighborhood gym facing Clark Street, the building at 6125 N. Clark St. in Edgewater has since become a small apartment building facing residential Hood Avenue.
One bedroom units range from $1,400 to $2,000 and are between 600 and 900 square feet, with two-bedroom units costing between $1,800 and $2,000 for 1,050 square feet.
The new apartments will allow for pets, include security cameras at each entrance and will have new appliances, central air and in-unit washers and dryers.
Peter Koch, partner at Mavrek Development, bought the building at Hood Avenue and Clark Street in January and said he wanted to create a property that was "community based."
Eventually, he said he envisions a North Clark Street in Edgewater similar to that of Clark Street in Andersonville.
"We're trying to build something out a lot more community based," Koch said. "It seems like from Hood and from all those streets that are running from Clark to Broadway have a pretty good neighborhood group, or kind of sense of neighborhood where everyone kind of knows what's going on."
The building will be managed by Deanna Brend of Mavrek Development, who can be reached here for more information on the apartments.
