GREATER GRAND CROSSING — A 24-year-old man died Thursday from a gunshot wound he suffered on April 22, officials said.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office reported that Devan Watson, of the 1000 block of East 41st Place, was pronounced dead at 3:10 p.m. Thursday.
At 10:43 p.m. on April 22, Watson was sitting in a car with a 21-year-old woman and 27-year-old man in the 7600 block of South South Chicago Avenue when another car pulled up and somebody inside opened fire, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.
The woman was grazed by a bullet in her arm and was taken to Jackson Park Hospital in "stable" condition. Police could not provide more information about her condition.
The 27-year-old was shot in his chest and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition. Watson was struck in the back of his neck and was also taken to Northwestern in critical condition, Pacheco said.
