Police said the man was not cooperating with authorities.

• Around 10 p.m., a 21-year-old man was standing in the 5500 block of West Iowa Street in Austin when a man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt tried to rob him at gunpoint, Pacheco said. The man wrestled with the robber and the gun went off, hitting him in his right thigh.

Someone drove the man to Stroger Hospital, Pacheco said, where he was listed in good condition.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

• Around 8 p.m., a 19-year-old man was standing next to a car with two friends in the 11700 block of South Sangamon Street in West Pullman when someone walked up and shot at him, Pacheco said.

The man was brought to Advocate Christ Medical Center, Pacheco said, where he was listed in serious condition with gunshot wounds in his left leg, right arm and back.

• Two hours earlier, a 23-year-old man was standing near the mouth of an alley in the 1100 block of South Springfield Avenue in North Lawndale when a man with dreadlocks shot at him before fleeing eastbound, Pacheco said.

• At 4:50 p.m., a 23-year-old man was sitting on a fire hydrant in the 600 block of North Cicero Avenue in Austin when two men walked up from behind and shot him five times, according to Officer Veejay Zala, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with two gunshot wounds in each of his legs, Zala said, and another in his left arm. Police could not provide his condition but said he was "stable."

A 30-year-old man was also hurt in the shooting, Zala said. He was driving nearby when he was grazed in his back by a "bullet fragment."
