LINCOLN PARK — Public schools in Lincoln Park, Old Town and on the Near North Side stand to lose at least $1.34 million in the district's mid-year budget cuts.
On Tuesday, Chicago Public Schools announced $120 million in cuts district-wide facing stalled negotiations with the Chicago Teachers Union. Combined with other cost-cutting measures, officials said the move could save the district up to $325 million each year.
Of the Lincoln Park, Old Town and Near North Side schools, Skinner North Classical Elementary, 640 W. Scott Ave., stands to lose the highest percent of its overall budget, which will lose $79,190, or 3.44 percent of its overall budget. Across CPS, public schools lost an average of 1.4 percent.
