CHICAGO — Police are questioning a person of interest in the rape and robbery of a woman followed out of a Rogers Park Red Line station early Saturday.
At 4:40 a.m., the woman got off the Red Line at Jarvis Avenue and was followed by a man who had also been on the train, according to a community alert from police. The man grabbed her from behind in the 1400 block of West Jarvis, showed her a gun and forced her to a secluded area, where he robbed her and sexually assaulted her, police said.
Police identified and were questioning a person of interest in the case Monday, said Officer Michelle Tannehill, Chicago Police spokeswoman. No arrests have been made, she said.

Rogers Park Ald. Joe Moore said in an email to residents Monday morning that Rogers Park Police Cmdr. Roberto Nieves ordered extra patrols in the area in response to the attack.
Less than a month earlier, on Nov. 28, a Loyola student was sexually assaulted after leaving the Red Line at Granville in Edgewater. In that case, the victim walked off the train and was grabbed and assaulted as she walked through a residential part of the campus.
When the victim ran northbound toward Regis Hall; the man fled westbound on Sheridan Road.
That man is described as having a medium build, dark complexion and 30 to 40 years old. He was last seen wearing a white hat, dark jacket, light gray pants and white Nike gym shoes, police said.
