1 Killed, 11 Wounded in Shootings Since Wednesday Morning, Police Say

CHICAGO — A 17-year-old was killed and 11 other people were wounded, three critically, in shootings across the city between Wednesday morning and Thursday morning, police said.

The teen was walking in Woodlawn early Wednesday afternoon when two men walked up and shot him to death, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

A 7-year-old boy was shot in the back while sitting in the back seat of his mother's car in Austin Wednesday night, Estrada said.

A 37-year-old man was critically wounded after being shot during a home invasion in Little Village, Estrada said.

• Most recently, about 1:15 a.m. Thursday, a 19-year-old man and a 26-year-old man were sitting at a drive-through window in the 5200 block of South Pulaski Road in West Elsdon when someone shot into their car before fleeing in a black SUV, Estrada said.

The 19-year-old was shot in the right hand, shoulder and neck, Estrada said, and the 26-year-old was shot in the right hip.

Both men were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where their conditions stabilized, Estrada said.

• Around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, a 24-year-old man was walking in the 10600 block of South Martin Street in Washington Heights when he heard gunshots and felt pain in his foot, Estrada said.

The man was taken to Roseland Hospital, where he was listed in good condition, Estrada said.

• About 45 minutes earlier, a 23-year-old man was standing on his front porch in the 200 block of West 112th Street in Roseland when someone shot at him from a white SUV, Estrada said.

The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where his condition stabilized after he was treated for gunshot wounds in the back, arm and left leg, Estrada said.

• Around 7:50 p.m., a 15-year-old boy was walking in the 7500 block of South Emerald Avenue in Auburn Gresham when two men emerged from a nearby gangway and one shot at him, Estrada said.

Police could not immediately provide any other information on the shooting, or the boy's condition.

• At 6:17 p.m., three men were arguing inside a residence in the 7300 block of South Chappel Avenue in South Shore when one man pulled out a gun and shot the other two, Estrada said.

One man, 26, drove himself to Jackson Park Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition with gunshot wounds in the back, leg and buttocks, Estrada said.

The other man, 24, was released from South Shore Hospital after being treated for a gunshot wound in the hand.

The shooter is in custody, Estrada said, and charges are pending.

• At 3:34 p.m., a 33-year-old man was driving in the 5000 block of West Huron Street in Austin when he heard gunshots and felt pain, Estrada said.

The man brought himself to West Suburban Hospital, where he was listed in good condition with multiple gunshot wounds in the leg, Estrada said.

Police said the man was a documented gang member.

• About 15 minutes earlier, a 25-year-old man was walking near an apartment complex in the 10600 block of South Oglesby Avenue in South Chicago when two men chased him into the building and shot him, Estrada said.

The man was brought to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was in critical condition with gunshot wounds in the chest and back, Estrada said.

Police said the man was a documented gang member.
