CHICAGO — A 14-year-old boy was wounded during a shooting in Humboldt Park on Friday night, police said.

At 10:45 p.m., the boy was walking on the sidewalk in the 1400 block of North Washtenaw when someone in a passing black SUV fired at him, hitting him in his right ankle, said Officer Jose Estrada, Chicago Police spokesman. The boy was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was in "stable" condition, Estrada said. Police could not say the extent of his injuries.

The boy is a documented gang member and the incident may be gang-related, police said.

No one is in custody for the shooting.
