2 Killed, 8 Wounded In Gun Violence Since Saturday: Police

CHICAGO — Two were killed and 8 more wounded in gun violence since Saturday, according to police.

A 26-year-old man was killed early Sunday in West Garfield Park, police said.

On Saturday afternoon, a 23-year-old man was killed in Back of the Yards, police said.

In non-fatal shootings:

• A 21-year-old man was wounded in a shooting in East Garfield Park early Sunday, according to Officer Janel Sedevic, Chicago police spokeswoman. The man was on the sidewalk in the 200 block of North St. Louis Avenue around 2:05 a.m. Sunday when he heard shots and felt pain, Sedevic said. He was struck in his chest and left arm and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, she said.

• A 37-year-old man was shot in Woodlawn early Sunday, Sedevic said. The man was on the sidewalk in the 6000 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue around 12:40 a.m. when he was shot in his left arm, Sedevic said. He was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital before being transferred to Stroger Hospital in "stable" condition, Sedevic said. Police could not describe the extent of his injuries. The man is a known gang member, police said.

• A 59-year-old man was shot in Roseland late Saturday, police said. The man was on a front porch in the 9100 block of South Harvard Avenue around 11 p.m. Saturday when two men approached and opened fire, Sedevic said. The man was struck in his back and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition, she said.

• A 28-year-old man was shot in Austin Saturday night, Sedevic said. He was on the sidewalk in the 900 block of North Leclaire Avenue around 10:15 p.m. when he was shot in both his legs, Sedevic said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in "stable" condition, she said. Police could not describe the extent of his injuries. The man is a documented gang member, police said.

•A 17-year-old was shot in Grand Boulevard Saturday, Sedevic said. He was walking with a friend in the 200 block of East 47th Street at 9:05 p.m. when a group approached and an argument broke out, Sedevic said. Someone then opened fire, striking the teen in his leg, Sedevic said. He was taken to University of Chicago in good condition, she said.

• A 26-year-old woman was shot in East Side Saturday, according to Sedevic. She was on the sidewalk in the 10900 block of South Mackinaw Avenue around 9 p.m. when two men got out of a car and opened fire, Sedevic said. The woman was struck in her back, and was taken by a friend to Franciscan Saint Margaret Hospital in good condition, Sedevic said.

•A 40-year-old man was shot in West Pullman Saturday evening, Sedevic said. He was in the 11700 block of South Sangamon Street around 6:15 p.m. when a man approached and fired shots, striking the man in his hand and both legs, Sedevic said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in "stable" condition, she said. Police did not say the extent of his injuries.

• A 27-year-old man was shot in Woodlawn Saturday afternoon, Sedevic said. The man was walking in the 6500 block of South Maryland Avenue around 3:30 p.m. when a car drove by and opened fire, Sedevic said. He was shot in his leg and taken to Stroger Hospital in "stable" condition, Sedevic said. Police could not describe the extent of his injuries.

No arrests have been made.
