LINCOLN PARK — For the first time, Lincoln Park High School is hosting a pep rally in Oz Park.

Weather permitting, the pep rally will kick off at Oz Park, 2021 N. Burling St., beginning at 4:30 p.m. It'll be held in the school auditorium, 2001 N. Orchard St., if it rains.

Cheerleaders, as well as members of the school's chamber choir, glee club, gospel chorus and marching band will be at the park celebrating the school, as will students on fall sports teams, including the football team.

In an email to constituents, Ald. Michele Smith (43rd), whose ward includes the school, said to expect "lots of surprises."

Everyone who comes out is encouraged to wear the school's colors: Blue and yellow.

The pep rally is part of the school's marketing campaign, which was designed to showcase the school as the best neighborhood school option.

According to a recent survey, only 30 percent of Chicago Public Schools students go to their local high schools.

Those who are interested in joining the campaign's efforts are encouraged to email the committee at 1school1communitylphs@gmail.com.
