CHICAGO — A man shot outside his Washington Heights home early Sunday has died, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
Marcus Cox, 28, was outside his home in the 9600 block of South Morgan Street around 4:20 a.m. Sunday when shots rang out, according to Officer Nicole Trainor, Chicago Police spokeswoman.
Cox was shot in his abdomen and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition, police said.
He was pronounced dead at 3:19 p.m. Sunday at the hospital, according to the medical examiner.
No arrests have been made, Trainor said.
With Cox's death, the weekend's violence total comes to 3 dead, 52 wounded, according to police.
