CHICAGO — Honey Butter Fried Chicken is honoring Hot Doug's with a Chicago-style hot dog/fried chicken sandwich.

The sandwich, dubbed "The Doug Sohn" in honor of the Hot Doug's owner, will feature fried chicken with Green River pickled shallots, Half Acre beer mustard, celery salt, pickled Fresno peppers and cherry tomatoes on a poppy seed bun.

The sandwich will be available Wednesday to Oct. 4 to coincide with the first anniversary of the closing of Hot Doug's. Sohn will be at the restaurant from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday to kick off his namesake sandwich. Sohn was a "restaurant neighbor and long-time friend" to Honey Butter Fried Chicken, according to a news release from the restaurant.

"The Doug Sohn" will cost $8, with $1 going to The Shriver Center. The center "provides national leadership in advancing laws and policies that secure justice to improve the lives and opportunities of people living in poverty," according to its website.
