SOUTH LOOP — The Chicago Park District Board of Commissioners will host two special meetings next week on the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, a proposed lakefront museum that was scaled back after an initially lukewarm public reception a year ago.

The first meeting will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29 in the first-floor meeting room at Columbia College Chicago's Conaway Center, 1104 S. Wabash Ave.

A second meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wed., Sept. 30 in room W181-C at McCormick Place West, 2301 S. Indiana Ave. Both will have time for public comment.

Sara Stacy, Lucas Museum spokeswoman said, "The meetings are organized by the Park District to discuss and share information about the Lucas Museum and hear ‎input from the community."

News of the meetings arrive less than a week after Lucas officials released revised renderings of the museum, which would occupy a Soldier Field parking lot. In addition to a slightly new design, the 300,000-square-foot museum with public park was scaled down by 40 percent.

If built, the non-profit museum led by filmmaker George Lucas would cost at least $400 million and would be privately financed. It is scheduled to open in 2019-2020, but is subject to a pending lawsuit and still requires city approval.
