CHICAGO — Two people were killed — including a 17-year-old — and six were wounded in gun violence since Wednesday, according to police.
The 17-year-old was killed while he answered the door at a residence in Calumet Heights early Wednesday, according to police.
A 59-year-old man was also killed and a 41-year-old man injured in a shooting in Morgan Park Wednesday night, police said.
• The most recent non-fatal shooting happened early Thursday in West Pullman. A 28-year-old man was in the street in the 700 block of West 117th Street around 12:15 a.m. when an unknown shooter opened fire, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman. The man was shot in his back and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in stable condition, Estrada said. The shooting could be gang related, police said.
• A 20-year-old man was shot in Lawndale late Thursday, Estrada said. The man was on the sidewalk in the 1600 block of South Karlov Avenue at 11:20 p.m. when he heard shots and felt pain, Estrada said. He was shot in the upper back and was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in stable condition, Estrada said.
• A 16-year-old boy was shot in West Englewood Wednesday night, according to Estrada. The boy was outside in the 7300 of South Winchester Avenue around 9:25 p.m. when three men approached and opened fire, hitting the boy in his right knee, Estrada said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in stable condition, Estrada said. The boy is a documented gang member, according to police.
• Less than an hour before that, another man was shot in West Englewood, Estrada said. A 38-year-old man was on his front porch in the 5600 block of South Hamilton Avenue at 8:50 p.m. Wednesday when a red van approached, Estrada said. Offenders got out of the van, robbed the man and shot him in his leg, Estrada said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in stable condition, he said.
•A 19-year-old man was shot in his head in the Lower West Side Wednesday, Estrada said. He was driving in the alley in the 1100 block of South Normal Avenue around 5:15 p.m. when someone opened fire, Estrada said. The man crashed his car after being shot in his head and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition, Estrada said.
