SOUTHPORT CORRIDOR — If you've ever bemoaned the state of the child-friendly Crosby's Kitchen, its owners have some good news for you.

Chicago-based 4 Star Restaurant Group is planning to expand into the building next door to Crosby's with Three Sisters, an upscale neighborhood restaurant and wine bar that will "exude urban chic, while maintaining an air of warmth and comfort," the group said.

"This is really geared toward more of an adult evening out. I think it'll be a more date-night, leave-the-kids-at-home kind of place," said Derek Rettell, one of the owners of 4 Star Restaurant Group.

Filling the space at 1353 W. Cornelia Ave. left empty after Wrigleyville Dental moved, the 75-seat Three Sisters will serve dinner and weekend brunch and feature Mediterranean dishes from its wood-fired brick oven.

The seasonal dinner menu will feature $14-$26 entrees like wood-oven risotto, slow roasted pork shoulder and crispy pancetta and potato pizza. Small plates ranging from $4-$14 include roasted artichokes, chicken liver crostini and Spanish charred octopus.

Along with desserts and salads, the overall menu draws from French, Italian and Mediterranean cuisines, Rettell told West Lakeview Neighbors on Monday.

Craft, domestic and imported beers, craft cocktails will join a wine list of 14-18 high-quality wines by the glass and carafe with up to 40 more bottle options.

Since opening three years ago, Crosby's Kitchen, 3455 N. Southport Ave., has been successful enough that its owners are planning to expand with a second restaurant next door.

Three Sisters would be open from about 5-11 p.m., in addition to weekend brunch. The owners would also like to have an outdoor cafe that would seat an additional 30 people.

The restaurant group has not picked a chef yet, Rettell said. He estimated Three Sisters could open in August, although "things are a little rough downtown. Permits have been a real challenge," he said.

Three Sisters will be the ninth restaurant for 4 Star Restaurant Group, the company behind Smoke Daddy in Wicker Park, Remington's on Michigan Avenue and Frasca Pizzeria and Wine Bar at Paulina, Lincoln and Roscoe on Lakeview's west side.
