CHICAGO — Four of the 13 kittens left at Paws Chicago in a duffel bag in July are now available for adoption at the shelter.

The kittens were left in the parking lot of animal shelter PAWS Chicago's Little Village medical center at 3516 W. 26th St.

The four cats were available at Paws Chicago's Lincoln Park adoption center at 1997 N. Clybourn Ave. as of noon Monday, and still listed as available on Paws' website Tuesday.

When a litter comes into the shelter, the animals are usually named with a literary or movie theme in mind, said Sarah Ahlberg, Paws spokesperson. The 13 kittens were named after "Top Gun" characters.

The shelter is holding a summer kitten adoption challenge. Anyone who adopts two kittens gets half off of the adoption fee of the second. The challenge goes through Aug. 31.

Check out the four kittens available now for adoption below:

Carole is a two-month-old female domestic short hair. According to the "Top Gun" Wiki, "Carol is Goose's wife. She's a firey blonde woman whose line 'Goose, you big stud! Take me to bed or lose me forever!' has become an internatinally famous movie line." She was played by Meg Ryan.

Sundown is a two-month-old female domestic shorthair. According to the "Top Gun" Wiki, Sundown "is first seen at the bar when Maverick & Goose sing to Charlie he joins in too. ... He is last seen at the TOP GUN graduation ceremony."

Viper is a two-month-old male domestic shorthair. According the the "Top Gun" Wiki, "CDR Mike 'Viper' Metcalf is an instructor at TOPGUN & a old friend of Maverick's father 'Duke Mitchell.'"

Wolfman is a two-month-old male domestic shorthair. According to the "Top Gun" Wiki, "When Maverick leaves Top Gun after falling into depression over the death of Goose, Wolfman informs Charlie that Maverick quit the program. If Wolfman had not done this, it is possible that Maverick would have left for good."
