CHICAGO — Here's what we're reading before getting out to enjoy the weekend.

Her Hair is Full of Secrets: Kristin Cavallari — former "The Hills" star and wife of the Bears' Jay Cutler — is hawking Secret Bangs, 2015's answer to the Bumpit. The product is a bunch of hair attached to a chunky headband, and the way the commercial has been put together, it's hard to determine whether it's even real or an elaborate prank. A Buzzfeed reporter tried to get to the bottom of Secret Bang's secret, and after having trouble ordering online, found out they were discontinued. The commercial is definitely worth a cringe-watch.

Legalizing Street Vendors No-Brainer For Cash-Strapped City: Currently, street vendors may sell only raw, uncut produce or prepackaged frozen desserts under the law. But if the city were to allow more types of street vendors, it could benefit in a big way, according to Hilary Gowins with the Illinois Policy Institute, who penned an opinion piece for Crain'sExpanding the law would create more than 6,400 new jobs and generate up to $8.5 million in new local sales tax revenue. Aldermen are expected to vote on a new ordinance in September.

No Money, So Many Problems: You've probably heard that Illinois' pension situation isn't so great right now, and by that, we mean it's a spiraling hole of doom. But what brought us here is one thing that '90s kids probably don't remember. Dave McKinney over at Crain's has the answer, and it's a veritable "parade of horribles" from multiple governors past. It's a detailed, yet understandable analysis of just what went wrong.
