LOGAN SQUARE — The owners behind The Burlington are set to open a sandwich shop, which they hope will become a neighborhood staple.

Wyler Road — named after a street in Burlington, Wis. — features a menu packed with 21 chef-crafted sandwiches in three categories: cold, hot and fried.

The restaurant, located in the former The Brown Sack space at 3581 W. Belden Ave., is a unique take on a neighborhood sandwich shop with a slight soda shop vibe.

"It's not your mom-and-pop place where you are going to pop in and get a sandwich with shaved deli meat turkey, mayo, ice berg lettuce and call it a day," said co-owner Chris Dandino.

The sandwiches range from the Rib Eye topped with onion rings, chimichurri and au jus to the clam belly with bacon, lemon aioli and lettuce.

"We thought, we love The Brown Sack. Let's do our own version of a sandwich shop," Dandino said.

The menu also includes three types of homemade chips, soups, salads and cheese curds.

Wyler Road, which officially opens Wednesday, also features six cocktails on tap, a selection of 16 regional draft beers and boozy floats.

Those boozy floats have been a hit over the past week during a soft opening, according to the owners, and are made with homemade ice cream.

The Fernet Cow features ice cream made from Letherbee Fernet, mint, coke and some additional liquid Fernet to top things off.

Dandino hopes the floats, the neighborhood location and the bar's back patio and laid-back vibe set it apart.

"As much as I love Logan Square, there's a lot of stuff opening in this neighborhood now," he said. "I think you get lost in the shuffle a lot of times.”

Wyler Road, which is located down the block from The Burlington, takes its name from the same Wisconsin locale where two of the group's seven partners grew up.

Some of the interior of the space was repurposed from a garage at the Burlington, Wisconsin lakehouse where they spent summers growing up.

Wyler Road will be open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Monday and until 2 a.m. Thursday Friday and Saturday.
